Water Sports Pavillion by Royce Perez

“Water Sports Pavilion” is embedded within a semi-rural site located by Lake Lewisville near Dallas. The condition of green space surrounding the site allows for the implementation of natural strategies. Conditions such as viewing, wind direction, and orientation are the influences on form, program and envelope. The massing strategy is a removal from the landscape and carved out for programmatic spaces and open perimeter spaces

The skin encasing the pavilion is a steel frame with bowed cross members. These diagonal crossed members are influenced by methods of stitching; both interrupted and continuous stitching. When skin is being stitched together the stitch itself is being pulled through the skin, back over and repeated; this process creates a varied undulation.
