Commune With Nature And God In This Ukrainian Chapel

This tucked-away chapel in the Ukraine by Rds Brothers is inspired by the country’s traditional wood church towers. It rises vertically to match the pine trees in the surrounding forest. Completed this year, the chapel’s isolated location and nearly windowless design allow for ultimate privacy in the middle of nature. Read More.

The floor space is small and square, but the ceiling is high, twisting and turning as it rises and culminating with a star-shaped skylight. A lower, horizontal slit in the wooden exterior allows a sliver of daylight to cut across the floor, creating a supernatural glow.

The chapel’s glass door entrance gives the impression of an open and inviting space, while the shingled wood covering makes visitors feel warm and safe inside the building’s walls.
